| Started in 1990 by the China Times Group
aimed at broadening Taiwan's ad horizons and
fulfilling a corporate vision while encouraging
professional exchanges within the Asia-Pacific
region, the first Times Asia-Pacific Advertising
Awards was held. Presided by chairmen from
six major international advertising agencies
as part of the selection committee, world-renowned
advertising gurus graced the occasion and captivated
audiences with inspiring speeches. On the first
year, Mr. John Doig served as the Chairman
of the judging panel. Since then, the Times
Asia-Pacific Advertising Awards has moved on
to become a prominent permanent fixture, which
has attracted the participation and attention
of the international advertising community.
Organizers of the Times Asia-Pacific Advertising
Awards continue to uphold the ideals and
aspirations set forth by providing advertising
professionals throughout the Asia-Pacific
with more opportunities for growth, sharing
and learning. Each year, internationally
acclaimed ad experts are invited to be our
panel of judges. The numbers of entries as
well as participating countries have rapidly
increased as the years progressed. The events
highlighted cross-country exchanges, chances
for dialogues and appreciation of varied
creatives. Some of the eminent judges include
John Doig, Andrew Cracknel, Tony Cox, Gordon
Fenton, Neil French, Mike Fromowitz, Bhanu
Inkakwat, Paul Johns, Leonie Ki, Tomotsu
Kishii, John Kyriakou, Jimmy Lam, Tomaz Mok,
Grinfranco Moretti, Allan Thomas, Peter Soh
and many others. It is the wish of the Times
Asia-Pacific Advertising Awards to generate
more participation from the entire Asia-Pacific
region through friendly competition and encouragement,
and give advertisers the chance to continue
to create and display their new, innovative
pieces.
Breaking away from tradition, this yearˇ¦s
entry categories go beyond television, print,
outdoor and online ads in a bid to diversify
and to furnish the awards ceremony with a
fresher look and a newer facet.
The curtain is about to lift for the 16th
Times Asia-Pacific Advertising Awards. We
warmly welcome all participants and enthusiastically
embrace this yearˇ¦s winners.
